My father has been going on fishing trips with his father and brothers for years in Eau Claire, WI. He has continued this tradition with my brothers and Tim throughout the years. They haven't been very lucky on catching fish, well that is large fish for a while, until yesterday......
I received this text in the afternoon - and as you can see he is VERY happy. This however is the SMALLER fish caught that day. He caught 2 fish, the photo is of the 38 in. 13 lb. muskie. He also caught a 45 in. 19 lb. muskie that I understand my Dad has lots of photos of. I think all of the men are pretty excited and the trip isn't over until Sunday.

Vacation - Big Cedar
This past weekend we headed down to Ridgedale, MO to Big Cedar for a week of relaxing and fun. Big Cedar is really a beautiful resort on Table Rock Lake. It's stayed very true to preserving nature in it's natural surroundings and is extremely well maintained. We love it.
A few of a couple of the hotel lodges and the kiddie pond for fishing.
In the center is Devil's Pool and the Buzzard Bar, to the right is a conference center and gym (we didn't quite make it there ).
It has streams all over the resort and you get to drive through them on most of the surrounding roads.
Our first morning included Tim's guided fishing trip so it was just me and the girls. Unfortunately nothing really opens until 10 (the pools) so we went and worked up a sweat at the playground.
There was also a rock wall, a little to big for Megan.
Megan was pretty proud of herself because she could climb up on the chairs - and fall as well. An on going battle for the week. Unfortunately I didn't take an pictures of the cabin we stayed in. It was very nice - 2 bedroom, 2 bath, full kitchen, w/d - pretty much a small house. It was very convenient.
Monday morning was a kids fishing day. You are only allowed to fish on the kiddie pond at approved times we learned. We were hoping the pond was really stocked as it was catch and release.
Megan sitting by semi - quietly. It was extremely hot and muggy that morning so she didn't last long sitting in one spot.
This was the fruit of our labors - however most people gave up and caught nothing. You'll have to ask Tim about the one that got away....
So after a hot morning of fishing it was off to Devil's Pool for a red beer....
and a mimosa! Of course and a chocolate milk for Abby.
Tuesday and Wednesday we spent the days at Silver Dollar City. Abby was tall enough to ride on anything with a companion (not brave enough though). Here we are on the Elephant ride to start off the day.
Megan was tall enough to ride about 6 things with an adult so Tim and I got some rides in as well. The Butterflies.
Abby could ride a couple all by herself as well.
The frogs - we were on that one a lot. Megan and Abby loved it.
Tim found a shooting range - go figure.
Abby did too.
More frog time.
That evening we headed down to the Branson Landing for dinner at Waxy O'Shea's - It's an Irish Pub that I love to eat at. Megan enjoyed the ice cream truck at the kids play area at the Landing.
Wednesday at Silver Dollar City - first stop, train ride.
Abby was very excited - we even got robbed!!! Two outlaws took Abby for $.06 - I think we'll recover.
As you can see it didn't bother Megan - she was happy to just be on a ride.
Thursday we rented a boat in the morning to cruise around Table Rock and swim in the lake. As we are very used to the Lake of the Ozarks, Table Rock is very different in how the housing and docks are set up as it's a Core of Engineers Lake. The lake was very smooth though and we had a great time - now Tim's itching to buy a boat!
We cruised by the Branson Belle that was docked.
Megan loved the boat and is quite a water baby!
Always wanting to drive.
Friday morning we did a little shopping - it's an outlet mall of course!
Chilling after a swim after shopping on the back deck of the cabin on the rocking chairs. Of course the photo doesn't do the deck justice - it is the full length of the cabin with a grill, then 2 other seating areas. The kids loved running around on it.
We had a really great time - it was our first lengthy family vacation alone - so we weren't sure how it would go but it went very smoothly and we had a great time with the girls and enjoying the resort. As I told my family it is our "Okoboji of the South".
