The Tooth Fairy Has Arrived!

This past weekend on Saturday morning Abby lost her first tooth. She had 2 that have been "wiggling" since her birthday and one was finally loose enough to pop out. Actually Tim said he was going to see how loose it was and just pulled it out. As Abby says - "My Daddy tricked me." Megan's response to all things teeth over the weekend "Not my teeth".

The first tooth.

This is the pillow that the tooth went in that night (present from Aunt C and Uncle T).

And just to make things a little more complicated Tim decided to use up all his tomatoes that finally ripened and make salsa and can it. He chose Jalepeno Salsa out of my canning book. I think my house and hands still smell like jalepenos/onions/garlic.

The final product - I was feeling a little proud of myself with my canning skills. Tim tried some and said it was pretty spicy so I can only imagine how it will taste after it sits for a while.

And the photo of the missing tooth. Sunday night the other bottom tooth came out so the Tooth Fairy came Sunday night also to our house. Abby put the pillow back up on her shelf so I'm guessing no other plans to lose any more teeth soon.

So pretty eventful weekend at the Schmidt house. Thanksgiving was at the Bovee house in Collinsville which was a good time - both food and family! Now it's all about Christmas preparations - decorating, cooking, and shopping.

Abby's 5th Birthday

Yesterday my first born turned 5. Where has all the time gone? I think Tim and I are still truly shocked that we are parents sometimes, but now to have a 5 year old, it amazes us.

The cake for the daycare party, it was good, all 2 times we we ate it yesterday.

Some of the girls from daycare getting ready for the party.

She had another party with some friends at Bonker's that night as well. What better way to come off the sugar high than to run around for 2 hours? I thought it was a good plan at least.

Celebrating with the Schmidt family at the hotel from the wedding this past weekend - and yes, those are our rainbow cupcakes we made and they were delicious! Grandpa Schmidt is threatening to tickle her.

Abby at 5:
  • Loves to spell names/words and color (inside the lines)
  • Helped plant/harvest our garden with her Dad this year - was proud of every piece she picked
  • favorite song: Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash
  • Hoping to kill a deer this season
  • Can't wait for Kindergarten, got her shots and thought she could start the next day
  • Loves to ride her bike
  • Loves her neighbors
  • Is helping Megan finish up potty training and will read her the potty books
  • Started jumping off the back of the boat and going under water this year at the lake/pool
  • Has two loose teeth on the bottom
  • Still takes a nap at times or has quiet time
  • Loves to help cook/mix things
  • Loves her sister
  • Wants to go back to Okoboji with her cousins, talks about that a lot.
  • Counts to 39 - then skips to 100
  • Knows all her letters and numbers/address/phone number

There are many more things to add to the list but we'll just leave it at that.

Happy Birthday Abby - we love you!!
